Electrical Engineering Specialist - EV Charging Infrastructure

About the role

The Ulaanbaatar Chamber of Commerce is running the National EV Charging Infrastructure Development Program, which supports the phased rollout of a nationwide electric vehicle charging network across Mongolia. It is looking for an Electrical Engineering Specialist to support the technical planning, site assessment, installation coordination, testing and commissioning of EV charging infrastructure. The position is full-time and on-site in Ulaanbaatar.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out technical site assessments and evaluate the availability of electrical power supply.
• Coordinate grid connection requirements, technical specifications and electrical engineering solutions.
• Review electrical designs, equipment specifications, load calculations and installation plans.
• Work with electricity distribution companies, engineering consultants, installation contractors and equipment suppliers.
• Monitor installation progress, technical quality and compliance with safety standards.
• Take part in equipment inspections, testing, commissioning and technical acceptance.
• Maintain technical documentation, inspection records and project progress reports.
• Help develop operating procedures, maintenance requirements and technical handover documentation.
• Identify technical risks and recommend practical solutions to keep projects on schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, power infrastructure, electrical installation or related projects.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, power supply connections and electrical equipment.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications and engineering documentation.
• Experience coordinating contractors and managing technical activities at project sites.
• Familiarity with electrical safety requirements, installation practices and quality control procedures.
• Preferred: experience in EV charging, renewable energy or power distribution; DC fast charging, substations, transformers and grid connections; AutoCAD; EV charging standards such as IEC and CCS2/GB/T; testing, commissioning and technical acceptance; English for technical documents and supplier communication.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software
• Technical reporting and clear communication with project stakeholders

Reporting line: the specialist reports to the Strategy & Operations Manager and works closely with the Procurement Manager, installation contractors, engineering consultants and other program stakeholders.
