Circular Economy & Waste Management Analyst (Part-time)

About the role

The Circular Economy and Waste Management Analyst will support the Green and Inclusive Cities in Mongolia (GICM) Project, a UNDP‑funded initiative aimed at fostering low‑carbon, climate‑resilient urban development. Working 50% time, the analyst will contribute to policy formulation, data‑driven analysis, and capacity‑building activities across Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan and Erdenet.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and reviewing circular‑economy and waste‑management policies and regulatory frameworks.
• Collect, analyse and visualise data on waste streams, recycling rates and resource efficiency.
• Support the design and implementation of pilot urban solutions that promote nature‑positive outcomes.
• Coordinate with municipal authorities, NGOs and private sector partners to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Prepare technical reports, briefing notes and presentations for the Project Implementation Unit and the Project Board.
• Contribute to knowledge‑sharing events and capacity‑building workshops for local stakeholders.

Required profile

• University degree in environmental science, urban planning, economics, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in circular‑economy, waste‑management or sustainable urban development.
• Familiarity with UNDP programmes and climate‑adaptation initiatives is an advantage.
