Circular Economy and Waste Management Analyst (Part-time 50%)

About the role

The Circular Economy and Waste Management Analyst will support UNDP Mongolia’s Green and Inclusive Cities in Mongolia (GICM) project. Working part‑time (50 %), the analyst will contribute to policy development, data analysis and capacity building aimed at fostering low‑carbon, climate‑resilient urban solutions in Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan and Erdenet.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and implementation of circular economy and waste‑management strategies within the GICM project.
• Collect, analyse and synthesize data on waste streams, resource use and urban emissions to inform policy recommendations.
• Support the preparation of project reports, policy briefs and green budgeting documents.
• Facilitate knowledge‑sharing workshops and capacity‑building activities for municipal officials and stakeholders.
• Monitor progress against project indicators and contribute to the evaluation of pilot solutions.

Required profile

• University degree in environmental science, economics, urban planning or a related field.
• Relevant experience in circular economy, waste management or sustainable urban development.
• Strong analytical abilities and familiarity with policy analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of Mongolian is an asset.
