Quality Assurance Team Lead

About the role

A technology company, part of one of Mongolia's leading holding groups and developing systems for all companies in the group, is hiring a full-time Quality Assurance Team Lead in Ulaanbaatar. The role leads a team of 3 QA engineers and owns the quality of the company's products and projects, with flexible working hours and 2 remote days per month. The main goal is to move QA from mostly manual testing to test automation.

Key responsibilities

• Define the QA and testing strategy, standards and processes and lead their implementation
• Set the test plan, scope, approach, entry/exit criteria and release readiness for each product
• Manage the team's daily work, assign tasks, track performance and mentor team members
• Lead defect management and root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues
• Define and track QA metrics and KPIs, and report on test results, defect trends and quality risks
• Work with developers, product managers and DevOps to build quality into the development lifecycle
• Balance manual and automated testing to improve regression efficiency, coverage and release reliability
• Review QA processes, methods and tools and drive continuous improvement
• Build the team's automation skills and introduce new testing technologies, including AI-assisted testing

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a related field
• 5+ years of software QA/testing experience, including at Senior or Lead level
• Technical leadership, mentoring skills, strong ownership and analytical problem solving

Required skills

• Hands-on experience building a test automation framework from scratch or expanding it
• Web and API test automation; Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar
• Writing automation code in JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python or C#
• Integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins)
• Integration, end-to-end and SQL/database testing
• Agile/Scrum and CI/CD environments
