Principal Advisor, Strategy & Finance Modernisation

About the role

Oyu Tolgoi is seeking a Principal Advisor, Strategy & Finance Modernisation to join its Finance & Commercial Department. The role sits at the intersection of corporate strategy, economic analysis, shareholder engagement and business transformation, working closely with the CEO, CFO and executive leadership team. It is open only to Mongolian citizens.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development, refinement and execution of strategic priorities, turning them into themes, initiatives, performance measures and delivery plans
• Act as the strategic link between Finance Transformation initiatives and business objectives, and guide their prioritisation and sequencing
• Analyse economic, policy, regulatory and industry developments, and monitor trends affecting the mining sector and Mongolia's economy
• Prepare strategic briefings and presentations, and coordinate engagement with shareholders and joint venture stakeholders
• Identify and assess strategic risks, lead scenario planning and support major investment decisions
• Support organisational improvement, including simplifying processes, improving reporting and strengthening governance

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Commerce, Strategy or a related discipline
• Significant experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, economic analysis, business transformation or enterprise planning
• Demonstrated experience supporting senior executive and board-level decision-making
• Strong English communication skills
• Highly valued: postgraduate qualification, mining or large-scale capital-intensive industry experience, shareholder or government stakeholder experience, and experience in Mongolia or similar emerging markets

Required skills

• Advanced analytical, research and business modelling skills
• Experience developing strategic frameworks, business cases and executive recommendations
• Understanding of digital transformation, automation and organisational modernisation
