Accounting Specialist

About the role

JTI is hiring an Accounting Specialist in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, within its Finance department. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the role supports accurate accounting records, reliable financial operations and timely documentation. It is a permanent position involving day-to-day accounting activities, work with colleagues and suppliers, and compliance with local legislation and internal procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Record banking transactions, monitor bank account movements, prepare monthly bank reconciliations and process payments through online banking
• Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring supporting documents are complete, accurate and submitted on time
• Maintain accounting records for fixed assets, inventories, fuel, mobile communications, business travel and other assigned expenses
• Manage accounts receivable and payable, reconcile supplier balances and prepare statistical reports
• Prepare, organize and maintain accounting documentation, with secure storage and proper archiving
• Provide cover for the Chief Accountant during absences, including payroll processing, sick leave and holiday pay calculations, and final payments on termination

Required profile

• University degree in economics or a related discipline
• At least five years of relevant accounting experience
• Fluency in Mongolian and English; knowledge of Russian is an advantage
• Knowledge of IFRS, Mongolian labour legislation and the key provisions of the applicable Tax Code
• Understanding of accounting policies, internal procedures and document workflows, and knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements

The position operates under a dual-employment model, with the selected candidate employed concurrently by two organizations in line with applicable laws and company policies.
