Superintendent Engineering - Underground Infrastructure

About the role

Oyu Tolgoi, which operates a copper-gold mine in southern Mongolia, is looking for a Superintendent Engineering to lead underground infrastructure, sustaining capital delivery and engineering governance. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, the role leads a multidisciplinary engineering team that delivers safe, reliable and fit-for-purpose infrastructure solutions while ensuring strong technical governance, operational support and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Deliver infrastructure and sustaining capital projects safely, on schedule and within budget.
• Provide engineering governance, technical assurance and management of change leadership.
• Manage engineering, design and construction partners to achieve safe and effective outcomes.
• Support Underground Operations through reliable, maintainable and operationally focused infrastructure solutions.
• Develop engineering capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
• Foster collaboration across Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services and Project teams, and drive a culture of safety, accountability, performance and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• At least 10 years of experience in engineering design and leadership of engineering disciplines.
• Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary engineering projects and delivering capital projects while managing contractors.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills; autonomous work in a complex project delivery environment.
• Outstanding commitment to HSE and quality.

Required skills

• Engineering design in civil, mechanical and piping aspects.
• Coordination of multiple engineering design and fabrication packages.
• Preferred: underground mining, block cave mining, sustaining capital delivery, owner's team or EPCM experience, brownfield project experience, and experience mentoring engineers.
