Project Intern – Renewable Energy Transition in Mongolia

About the role
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking motivated Project Interns to support the "Supporting Renewable Energy Transition in ger districts for an increased benefit to livelihood" initiative in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Interns will assist in implementing renewable heating solutions for women‑headed households and contribute to the development of a national carbon market framework.
Key responsibilities
- Support procurement and installation of electric heaters and photovoltaic equipment in targeted ger households.
- Assist in collecting and analysing real‑time monitoring data to verify emission reductions.
- Help prepare reports on community engagement, gender empowerment, and health impact outcomes.
- Contribute to the design of educational and behavioral‑change activities for community members.
- Collaborate with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and UNDP Acceleration Lab on carbon market regulatory development.
Required profile
- Current university student or recent graduate in environmental studies, renewable energy, public policy, or related fields.
- Strong interest in climate change mitigation, gender equality, and community development.
- Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Mongolian is a plus.
- Ability to work in a multicultural team and adapt to field conditions.
