Business Development Manager

About the role

The Business Development Manager is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and expanding MERA Group’s client base within the mining and industrial explosives sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market and competitor analysis to uncover growth opportunities.
• Prepare and present commercial proposals and negotiate contracts with clients.
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective customers.
• Collaborate with operations, production, and finance teams to align service offerings with client needs.
• Monitor industry trends, attend relevant events, and contribute to long‑term growth strategies and revenue targets.

Required profile

• Strong business development and sales skills, including lead generation, relationship management, and contract negotiation.
• Experience in market research, competitive analysis, and strategic planning within mining, industrial services, or related sectors.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with a track record of preparing clear proposals and reports.
• Solid understanding of mining operations, drilling and blasting services, or industrial explosives manufacturing (highly beneficial).
• Project management and organizational skills to handle multiple opportunities and deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in Mongolian and additional languages is an asset.
• High integrity, safety awareness, and alignment with international quality, occupational health, and environmental standards.
• Willingness to work on‑site, collaborate across functions, and travel occasionally to client and project locations.
