Area Operations Manager – Data Center Civil Projects

About the role

The Area Operations Manager will lead multiple large‑scale data center civil infrastructure projects across several geographic regions, overseeing site development, earthwork, concrete, underground utilities, and paving. The role is responsible for client relationship management, financial performance, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, representatives, and joint‑venture partners.
• Coordinate staffing with local leadership, project teams, and HR.
• Manage contracts, change orders, disputes, and claims proactively.
• Monitor project schedules and ensure alignment with company and contract milestones.
• Review quantities, costs, and budgets monthly to guarantee profitability.
• Conduct monthly financial reviews, submit accurate billing, and manage schedule of values.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and coordinate permitting processes.
• Participate in subcontractor and vendor procurement.
• Collaborate with corporate departments such as safety, finance, project controls, and engineering.

Required profile

• 15+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
• 10+ years managing construction teams.
• Experience with site development, greenfield industrial or mission‑critical projects.
• Strong client relationship and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to manage claims and financial risk.
• Flexibility to travel frequently (>50%).
