Principal Resources Geologist

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Resources Geologist to lead the development and reporting of mineral resources for the Oyu Tolgoi copper deposit. Based in Ulaanbaatar, the role supports the global resource strategy and provides technical input across mining, processing and project execution teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain geological and metal resource models for both open‑pit and underground operations.
• Sign off as Competent Person on mineral resources under ASX, SEC and Mongolian classification codes.
• Prepare statutory resource reports (JORC, SEC, Mongolian regulations) and ensure compliance with governance processes.
• Integrate geological data from face mapping, reconcile modelled versus actual grades and recoveries.
• Oversee core handling, geological logging and QA/QC programmes that underpin resource models.
• Collaborate with engineering, processing, permitting and external stakeholders to deliver high‑quality technical support.
• Participate in HSEC activities and contribute to building national technical capability in resource geology.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in resource geology for large‑scale copper projects.
• Proven ability to act as a Competent Person for mineral resource reporting.
• Strong understanding of both open‑pit and underground mining environments.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal teams and government authorities.
