Supervisor – Shaft Operations (Underground Mining)

About the role

We are seeking a Supervisor Shaft to join our Underground Operation Team at a world‑class copper‑gold mine in Mongolia. The role provides frontline leadership, ensuring safe and efficient shaft and hoisting operations while delivering material handling and logistical support to underground stations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day activities of the Shaft Operations Team, ensuring safe operation and maintenance of shaft and hoisting infrastructure.
• Implement and manage transparent shaft scheduling systems.
• Act as Superintendent Shaft Operations when the primary superintendent is off‑site.
• Lead a diverse team of over 50 expatriate and national employees.
• Ensure compliance with Rio Tinto and industry safety standards, reviewing SWPs and JHAs.
• Supervise rigging operations and material delivery to underground stations.
• Drive continuous improvement projects for shaft and hoisting performance.
• Assist the operational readiness group in developing policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in underground mining shaft operations and hoisting systems.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large, multicultural teams.
• Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in mining.
• Capability to act decisively as superintendent when required.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
