About the role

Oyu Tolgoi is seeking a Specialist Geotechnical to join its Underground Operations Team in Mongolia. The role provides technical leadership and assurance for cave management, ensuring safe, productive, and sustainable block‑cave operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical guidance for cave management activities and support safe, uninterrupted underground operations.
• Implement and continuously improve the Cave Management Framework in line with company standards and industry best practice.
• Review draw‑control performance to optimise cave propagation, reserve recovery, dilution and production outcomes.
• Monitor cave performance using data from draw records, cave propagation indicators and underground observations.
• Interpret cave monitoring systems, including Smart Markers, TDRs, MPBXs, extensometers, micro‑seismic, subsidence monitoring and cave trackers.
• Develop, maintain and enhance cave monitoring plans, trigger‑action response plans (TARPs) and reporting systems.
• Identify, assess and communicate cave‑related risks to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven experience in underground geotechnical engineering or cave management.
• Strong understanding of draw‑control, reserve recovery and dilution management.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and ensure compliance with safety and technical standards.
