Principal Advisor Underground Construction

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Principal Advisor to join Oyu Tolgoi’s Underground Operations Team in Mongolia. The role provides senior leadership, technical oversight and continuity for the delivery of world‑class underground mine infrastructure while supporting national capability development.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the Underground Construction Manager to ensure consistent leadership and decision‑making across rotations.
• Plan, coordinate and execute underground construction priorities, including production infrastructure, ore bins, haulage roadways, dewatering systems and structural steel installations.
• Mentor and coach national superintendents, supervisors and emerging leaders, fostering safety leadership and contractor performance.
• Provide visible field leadership, enforce Life‑Saving Incident (LSI) standards and drive sustainable knowledge transfer.
• Support contractor management, safety compliance and project delivery within the agreed schedule and budget.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in underground construction and mining infrastructure projects.
• Proven senior‑level leadership and ability to work in a FIFO roster (4 weeks on / 2 weeks off).
• Strong commitment to safety, mentoring and developing national talent.
• Willingness to reside in Ulaanbaatar and travel regularly to the mine site.
