Principal Advisor – Underground Construction

About the role

Oyu Tolgoi is seeking a senior Principal Advisor to join its Underground Operations Team in Mongolia. The role provides continuity of leadership and technical oversight for the delivery of world‑class underground infrastructure, supporting a safe and efficient transition of the mine.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the Underground Construction Manager to ensure consistent leadership across rotations.
• Plan, coordinate and execute underground construction priorities, covering production infrastructure, ore bins, roadways, dewatering stations, and structural steel installations.
• Provide senior technical guidance on complex underground scopes and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Mentor and develop national superintendents, supervisors and emerging leaders, fostering local capability.
• Monitor contractor performance, support decision‑making and promote sustainable knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in underground construction and infrastructure delivery.
• Proven leadership in senior construction or engineering roles within mining or related sectors.
• Strong track record of mentoring national talent and promoting safety culture.
• Willingness to live in Ulaanbaatar and travel to the mine site on a FIFO roster.
