Engineering Specialist – Mine Infrastructure

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Specialist to join the Underground Maintenance Team at Oyu Tolgoi, supporting the performance and reliability of a world‑class underground copper‑gold mine in Mongolia. The role focuses on the maintenance, upgrade and optimisation of underground production infrastructure, including de‑watering, fire‑water, compressed‑air systems, vent doors and booster fans.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate scope development, engineering design and tender packages for infrastructure upgrades.
• Manage procurement, contractor selection and delivery of fixed‑plant assets.
• Ensure designs and fabricated components comply with Oyu Tolgoi health‑and‑safety standards and international best practices.
• Analyse performance data from fixed‑plant and infrastructure teams, propose improvements and track implementation.
• Support reliability and production improvement projects, including budget development and cost estimation.
• Review spare‑parts strategies, maintenance reports and assist in implementing the Rio Asset Management process.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience in underground mine infrastructure.
• Proven experience in infrastructure maintenance, project coordination and contractor management.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret technical reports and drive corrective actions.
• Familiarity with health‑and‑safety compliance in a mining environment.
